Hi Nicole, thanks for this article. I am a trainer and have recently bought courses from a company who used storyline 2. The courses are not interactive and fall short from a good learning experience. Also, the content I decided to improve to create a flow with specifically focusing on my target group. Now I am sitting with new modified PowerPoints to be uploaded in storyline 2. I am not sure which type of freelancer to recruit. I must add that I intend buying storyline 2 and teach myself how to create interactive courses. Currently because of limited time and limited design skills, I decided to hire a freelancer. As I am reading your article, I still struggle to find the RIGHT person. I had one freelancer who I was really interested in hiring but found out that he does not do the design but outsource it someone else and then upload it into storyline 2 to create the product. That makes it costly. Also, I don't have access to the designer. Can you help?
Hi Avril! Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I think a very important first step is identifying what your requirements are and documenting those into a small job posting. You mention you already have a Powerpoint ready to be uploaded into Storyline 2 - does the PPT file need to be re-worked in terms of design, layout, how content flows? Or does it just have to b e uploaded exactly as it is without any changes? Do you need someone to do graphics and add to the visual design? The RIGHT person will vary depending what your requirements are. So, my first tip is to start by identifying what you need. Thanks for the direction. I started the process. It is tedious but I know a must because it is a big investment as a small start-up company.
I found one designer who I think I will feel comfortable working with. Also, in terms of her experience. Her fees I may not be able to afford. What guidance would you give in how to direct the conversation with her in terms of her fees. Can I be honest in sharing with her my budget? I am afraid that she might decide not to work with me.
I also thought since this is a long term project, maybe she can start by producing a quality product but with the basic interactivities and later add elements such as gaming.
I appreciate your guidance on this.
