A MOOC—or Massive Open Online Course—is a form of online training open to anyone in the world. MOOCs incorporate lessons prepared by instructors and include multimedia, interactions, as well as social elements like discussion forums for support and collaboration.
MOOCs let learners review and complete content asynchronously—easily accommodating a wide range of time zones and scheduling needs. Originally made popular by higher education, MOOCs allow people to take more complex courses without needing to enroll at a college or university.
