Re: How to Create Virtual Rewards for E-Learning

This is a really cool example of a motivational technique! I love how the learners still receive something even though they got the question wrong. I think that helps motivate them to try get a better reward next time. Most examples I have seen the learner is not rewarded when they get something wrong so this is a great idea.

I am interested to hear what ideas others have for motivational techniques. I usually use points and badges but I would like to explore more opportunities. In my Kitchen Master game http://www.taniavercoelen.com/kitchenmaster/story.html
I was thinking about rewarding the learner with a recipe that they could collect and add to their recipe book. In the end I just stuck with badges (Junior Chef, Assistant Chef, Head Chef badge etc).

One idea I use for badges is giving the learner and opportunity to receive a bronze, silver or gold badge. I found that learners were more motivated having the gold badge to aim for as they weren't as excited about receiving a bronze or silver badge and they were more likely to have another go just to get the gold badge.

Tania, I absolutely love the Kitchen Master game and could see so much use for this. I am more of an advanced beginner with Storyline but picking up quickly as I have experience with Articulate Presenter. I'm not sure I would know where to begin in creating something like this. Is there any place to go to or any way of downloading this game to dissect and learn how it's developed? The concept and design is perfect!

      Hi Ellen,

Thanks so much for your feedback. I am also a big fan of Kitchen Master :)

I'll see if someone from the Articulate team can provide the download for this.
