- RichardPresleyCommunity MemberRob, your parenthetical elliptical statement raises an interesting point. As an ID, I'd ask, "How often are you going to need to rewire your pool motor?" If the answer is "Once per year," then the YouTube video is a good example of just-in-time learning. Why would you need training to recall information that you are rarely using? This is an easy question for a DIY-er, but it seems few businesses realize the "value" of forgetting. Perhaps, I should phrase it as the foresight to avoid investing time and effort to train someone to a high level of proficiency on a task they only perform rarely, especially when performing it incorrectly has a low level of impact to the organization.
- RobSwanson-3ce0Community MemberVery helpful, but spawns a question: It seems the today's learner's first, middle and last stop is mobile video. For example, if I need to fix my pool motor wiring, my first stop is not the user manual, an interactive course, or tests, but a YouTube video. One could argue that a mobile video is not just knowledge, but comprehension (the test being an attempt), application, since the video is side-by-side with attempt (and I didn't electrocute myself, so it works. But then, I couldn't do it again without the video...).
I find my youngish learners skip over everything but the videos and skip any embedded quizzes, while the older folks are willing to take the interactive courses and ILT demonstrations. - KennethKing-a5eCommunity MemberThank you Preston! I refer to one of those circle diagrams quite a bit. :)

- AH2Community MemberHey
Doesn't Bloom's Taxonomy also have 'create' as its ultimate level?- VirginiaDickensCommunity MemberAnderson and Krathwohl revised Bloom's in 2000-01. I had never known this until you mentioned it. It is not part of the original Bloom's. I personally place creation under Synthesis. Synthesis requires an act of creation. And, I side with Bloom that you have to create for a while in order to truly be able to evaluate. I have HUGE HUGE respect for Anderson and Krathwohl, but this sort of reworking does irritate me to no end.
- VirginiaDickensCommunity MemberI am so happy to see someone using the classic approach of what WORKS!
