Hi Laurie. Rise courses aren't slide based so the experience is quite different. Rise courses follow a vertical scrolling convention that's similar to browsing a web page.
As for the continue buttons disappearing once content has been viewed, that is by design. The continue blocks in this course are set to be enabled once the learner listens to the full audio/video content. Once they've listened to audio/video all the way through one time the continue button will be enabled for them when they repeat a section/revisit a branch.
Overall, it sounds to me like you'd like a more customizable course experience with a finer degree of control over how learners navigate. If that's the case, I'd recommend going with Storyline 360 over Rise.
