I've enjoyed Rise as a tool and the modules look GREAT! However....we are beset with random issues of courses not completing or hanging up in one fashion or another. (about a 1% failure rate) Have pushed the LMS provider relentlessly for a fix and they are adamant it's not on their side. But our customers can create the error on a regular basis....so regretfully, I get to remake several modules in storyline :-(
- MicheleBrooks-f8 years agoCommunity MemberWe are coming to realize that it may make sense to design our blocks outside of Rise, and then copy and paste them into Rise. This is because it is way too easy to accidentally delete content and then have to start over. If we use such a process, and have to do a remake in another tool, we've got the content ready to copy and paste into that tool. And, since source files stay in individual accounts on the cloud in Rise, we have a back up in case one of us wins the lottery.
- EfratMaor8 years agoCommunity MemberTim you mean that employees take a course, pass the quiz in it - but do not appear as complete\paseed?
We encountered this issue as well.
So some of it was VPN use, but some are employees that are on the same big site as the server is - and still, we can get errors. People send us their screenshots of passing - but they are incomplete in the LMS.
Or in QM we had a recurring error where a selection of the RIGHT answer is feedbacked with INCORRECT. Again, got screenshots of it, and re-checking the source - it is defined correctly.
This is some inherent bug in Articulate products. really frustrating. We have a new LMS that we just launched, and really hope this was the LMS' issue, but not that optimistic about it.- TimGolden-151e58 years agoCommunity MemberEfrat yes - that's exactly what I am saying. I've got anecdotal examples from the employee using IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, on PC's, IOS and android devices. They all report completing the quiz with a passing score but the module still shows 'in progress' in the LMS. When they try to re-enter the course in the LMS it freezes in the browser, just a white screen. Our problems have been limited to Rise modules - I have another module that's all in SL and have had zero issues. Support in the LMS (and with Articulate) has been unable to replicate the error. It could be something with the client's intranet, but there are cases where the users are logging in on their personal device and still having an issue. We use a cloud based LMS, so you would think it the issue was the customer's intranet we'd be able to tell. All of that to say, I personally have not been able to recreate the error.
I love Articulate products and have been using them for years....but this is a challenge for us.- EmilyTrout8 years agoCommunity MemberHi Tim,
I'm new to all this (training content development in general) but have been using Rise to create various trainings for our company and upload them into our LMS.
Just yesterday I was receiving notice that folks were getting a '0%' completion email even though they've completed the course and received a passing score of 100% on the quiz.
I assumed it was the way in which I was exporting the content to SCORM. I was selecting "Track Using Course Completion" and thought maybe that was where I went wrong.
I've since gone back and adjusted the SCORM export to "Track Using Quiz Results" with a Complete/Incomplete reporting.
I'm assuming your issue is that it's still not working, which I believe is the same boat I'm in.
I guess it's good to know there's company? I may begin troubleshooting with our LMS provider and I had previously assumed it was my wrongdoing.
Anyway, thanks for posting your issue! It's been helpful.
- TrinaRimmer8 years agoFormer StaffThanks for reading and taking the time to comment and share your feedback, Tim. Sorry to hear that you've run into some snags with Rise. From reading this thread it sounds like a few others have faced similar issues so I thought I'd share a few troubleshooting tips that might help.
First, we now offer LMS Debug Mode for Rise: http://bit.ly/2nvXwdx Following the steps outlined in that link will show you (or your LMS Admin or your LMS contact) exactly what Rise is sending to the LMS. If you're uncomfortable trying to interpret the log, you can always send it to us and we'll be happy to lend a hand!
Another option is to test your Rise course in SCORM Cloud: http://bit.ly/1Qz0HwU SCORM Cloud is the industry standard for LMS testing/debugging. So, if your course works on SCORM Cloud, it should work on your LMS, too. While not a "solution," knowing that your course is working on SCORM Cloud can come in handy when trying to work with your LMS vendor.
I hope this information is helpful, but feel free to reply here if you have more questions.- TimGolden-151e58 years agoCommunity MemberTrina,
Thanks for the feedback – always looking for more help and insights. We’ll continue to chase the issue. If we identify anything we’ll definitely share with both our LMS vendor and you.
You’re right – not a solution per se but helps to be able to tell both our customer and our LMS vendor that it works in SCORM cloud. The other variable here can be the customer’s internet/intranet. Various security software or other programs can have unexpected collateral effects and make finding the root cause of the problem really tough.
One question about Rise and SCORM Cloud. One thing that is apparent with Rise – it’s locked down pretty tightly. What I mean by that is with the web based authoring platform, it would seem like everything should work by default – Articulate is controlling that environment. Even the publish settings are pretty tightly controlled and there’s less variability possible. So…in what circumstances could you envision a course in Rise to publish successfully, yet load into SCORM cloud and fail testing? Is that possible?
I’m showing my lack of technical expertise by the questions I’m asking, more than likely ☺ Thanks for replying and actively supporting these conversations.

However, discovered where I made my mistake when I read the instruction regarding how to export RISE to LMS. I had pointed to the index.html file instead of the indexapi.html file in LMS. When this was corrected it worked perfectly. Maybe this can help someone :-)
