- PeterPhillips1Community MemberI really like this. Very good use of case study, audio, and humor to engage the learner while keeping the screens clean and simple.
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThank you, Peter!
Yes - and designing and building it engaged me, too! I couldn't bear the idea of designing another deathly boring compliance course. :)
- MadeleineGreen-Community MemberI love this. It's still serious without bringing out the cliched big bad predator, I really enjoyed looking at this. Jackie, do you record in a studio? The narration is great, so professional. What microphone do you use?
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThanks so much, Madeleine!
Yes, I was determined not to demonize the offender. Who could relate to that?? I just wanted him to be a well-meaning yet clueless guy.
The only studio I use is my home office; though a lovely soundproof booth would be rather fabulous. As it is I settle for a noise gate and pause a lot as I wait for the dog/lawnmower/motorcycle/plane to keep moving.
I've always recorded with an Audio-Technica AT2020 desktop USB mic. I love it, but it picks up eeeeeeverything. I recently started playing with a Yeti (popular among e-learning folk) and appreciate that I can control the direction a bit more. Like away from the computer's fan. :)- MadeleineGreen-Community MemberCheers Jackie and I've met a few clueless people in my time (men and women) so was nodding my head all the way through the module! I use a Yeti too after struggling with a headset when I first started recording. Love my Yeti :)
- Marie-Pierre930Community Membergood job! This is a really fun way to learn about a dry subject.
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThanks, Marie! The client was crazy about it. :)
- JannetTiegelaarCommunity MemberAmazing, smiling while checking out a training about sexual harassment... well done! I really like the way audio and image contradict each other.
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThanks, Jannet!
Good observation! I think the disconnect between what you're seeing and what you're hearing is part of what keeps learners tuned into this one. :) - DanielBoliaCommunity MemberWell done! Which provider are you getting the characters from?
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThank you, Daniel!
All of those characters are from eLearningArt.com. :)
- AliciaBlitzCommunity MemberI love the tongue in cheek audio with the characters. The cut out characters and minimalistic background keep the perspective on the topic. Great job!
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroAw - thanks, Alicia! I'm so glad you liked it! :)
- baileybowyerCommunity MemberOMGosh, I love all of this and have sooo many questions lol. Great work Jackie!
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThank you, Bailey! :-D
Hmm... I guess the story could raise a few questions! Maybe I should do a prequel about Arlo and his backstory?- baileybowyerCommunity MemberI was watching it thinking... wait.. I know someone like this... and then as it got further along... I was wondering... did he apologise... did he feel really bad and stop talking to everyone.. whats happening with Arlo?? I need to know these things lol... so in short, Yes I think we need a backstory :D
- LuisaMendoncaCommunity MemberJackie, you are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your work.
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroThank you so much, Luisa!
People like you make it a pleasure to share. :)
- PatDeBorCommunity MemberThanks for sharing - definitely not one of those boring compliance courses. I actually wanted to see the entire thing!
- JackieVanNiceSuper HeroHaha :) Thanks, Pat!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! You can't get a better compliance course review than that. :)
