Prompting learners to practice navigating difficult conversations through e-learning is an excellent way to help boost their confidence—and get it right in real life. In this inspiring example featuring a Storyline 360 branching scenario, learners take on the role of a manager and try to uncover why an employee is showing up to work late. Based on their choices, they’re presented with custom feedback to see how different decisions lead to new outcomes.

Creating custom, immersive scenarios like this one is easy in Storyline 360. Combining features like layers, triggers, conditions, and variables lets you create a scenario that feels tailored to your learners’ needs.

I used eLearning Art for the characters and the filter was super easy to apply in PowerPoint. If you go to their Artistic Effects gallery under the Picture Format Tab, you will find all of these filters to use for images.

Thank you Eva, did you import your characters into Media Library and edit them in PPT from there?

I went the longer (probably more arduous route) by importing straight into PowerPoint, and adding the filter there. Then exporting the pictures and saving them with a transparent background.
  • Hi Eva, wonderful example! Did you use SL characters and was it difficult to apply the filter you did? I would appreciate hearing your process.

Actually, there are only two endings to this interaction: A failure path and a success path.

The user stays on a main path and then there are choices that will cycle to one or other depending on their choice. However, they are always on the main path.

This is fantastic! Well developed. Is it possible to share the source file. I'd love to see how it works. Teaching myself but getting a few pointers from a pro is helpful!

Would you be willing to share this as a template?
  • This is very detailed but I would really like to see the full project in Storyline to see just how the branching is organized and how many paths there actually were. Even a flow of the branches would be greatly appreciated.
