A local grocery store needs to quickly train its newly hired cashiers on cashiering procedures, accepting payments, giving change, and bagging groceries.
\n
You’ve been contracted to create a series of simple games and interactions to help cashiers practice specific tasks related to their new roles.

Grocery Store Checkout Simulations

Here’s a basic interaction that uses variables and conditions to evaluate which items have been scanned before adding their price to the total price.
\n
If an item is added to the bag before scanning, an alarm is triggered and the cashier is asked to scan the item before placing it into the bag. I’ve included the source file so you can see how it was built.

Challenge of the Week

This week, your challenge is to build an interaction that simulates the checkout process at grocery or retail stores.
\n
NOTE: Your entry can be anything from a rough concept to a polished example. The challenges are open to everyone, regardless of experience or skill level. If you need technical or creative help with your project, please ask in our forums and reference the challenge number you’re working on.

You can build whatever type of interaction you like this week. If you’re just getting started with Storyline, try your hand with adding variables.
\n
\n- Adding multiple items
\n- Add a time-based element for each transaction
\n- Simulate a price check or faulty scan
\n- Calculate how much change to give customers for cash-based transactions
\n- Simulate split payments for cash and credit
\n- Can you simulate multiple checkout lines in your interaction?
\n- Focus on checkout kiosks to let customers process their own orders
\n- Incorporate different types of customers (angry, confused, disruptive, etc)
\n- Process coupons and promotions

https://forums.adobe.com/message/8304145#8304145 I have gone through several of these; if you're just starting out I would start with 'Making your first character' and 'Building a puppet from scratch'... that will give you a good idea of how to get started.
As Nancy said, it's not difficult to learn and your skills in Photoshop and Illustrator will make it even easier for you :)
