Oddly, after many years working at a large university, I had not really heard of instructional design as an applied field. After pursuing a circuitous path through graduate education where I stumbled across this field, I finally managed to transition from working in research facilities management to instructional design in agricultural extension. I so wish I had known about this field a few degrees ago.
I recently had to put together a short explainer video for a project I am working on targeting grade school 4-H students. I suppose this is as good as anything for trying to explain what I have been doing. Most of it is Storyline-based, except for the programming bit at the end.

- Nathanial, what a fun example. I like how you selected the young girl as the narrator for the project and the examples displayed during the video of tools to help. How did the project go?
- It is supposed to roll out for field testing later this fall.
