Hello!
Here's a quick microlearning piece that teaches the basics of short division.
CARRY THE REMAINDER

Was a good excuse to use Drag and Drop -- which I haven't used for a while -- but I have also built in accessible fallback controls.

- JodiSansone4 years agoCommunity MemberWorked fine for me on Chrome. At first though I thought I was supposed to drag the R3, not the blocks, but I figured it out....but it's been such a long time since I learned division that I find it hard to learn it a new way. Great use of the Storyline features! Very inventive.
- Jonathan_Hill4 years agoSuper HeroThat's good feedback Jodi. I'll tweak the position of the arrows.
- NickRussell4 years agoCommunity MemberExplaining division in a way that is understandable to children is extremely challenging. Your visual approach with the blocks is very clever. Super design too.
- BrendaBarley-Ka4 years agoCommunity MemberI was not taught this way, so I learned something new!
- Ron_Katz4 years agoCommunity MemberThis was super, Jonathan. I love the example and then the follow up exercise. Gets the job done in a fun way.
- NeleSegers4 years agoCommunity MemberReally nice example. Although in the beginning I was confused as they teach this differently in my country (same idea though).
How did you do the 'erasing pencil'? really nice touch.
The drag en drop did not work for the 2nd part of the demonstration (It did for the first 6 though). It only worked when I dubble clicked.- Jonathan_Hill4 years agoSuper HeroHi Nele, thanks for the feedback. Which part of the drag and drop, specifically, wasn't working for you? (This is partly why I hate drag and drop; it's notoriously flakey.) It's working fine for me in Chrome on both my laptop and my phone? What browser are you using, out of interest?
The erase effect is simply a wipe animation timed to coincide with the entrance of the pencil.- NeleSegers4 years agoCommunity MemberI'm using Chrome on a laptop (Dell, no Apple).
In first part, where you demonstarte the division, I could move te block of 6 to the area with 9 blocks (so 3 remaining) by drag and drop.
The next block of 6 I couldn't move by drag and drop to the big area of 30 something if I remeber well. Only by dubble (?) clicking on the block of six.
Same for the last block of 6.
Let me check again tomorrow.
I noticed that sometimes in Review it takes a while for the e-learnings to react. So maybe it is indeed my computer (although only 2 years old).
