Way back I found one of Richard Hill's downloads--a matching game with a timer. I pulled it apart to figure it out and added my own spin. Save the pets before you run out of time! I don't think I could have replicated his logic so I am very appreciative that he shared his file. Interestingly, last week Elizabeth Pawlicki discussed timers in the Articulate webinar on accessibility so they were on my mind. I don't love using them but I guess they have some fun applications.

Looks great! Plays great! Jodi you never disappoint. - This was fun! I don't think I realize just how much I appreciate the small sound effects that are included in examples like this until I pull up one that's totally silent. Excellent!
- I like the call to action here -- the motivation to save the pets made me want to retry after failing the first time!
- Very nicely adapted Jodi and, as usual, love the theme.
Noticed the timer didn't work on my mobile - I think that's because certain wheel and wipe effect animations only work on desktops for some reason?
I've noticed this before on my own designs and wondered if you or anyone else here could shed any light on it?- I noticed that too Jonathan when I checked it last night. I used a 34 second wheel entrance animation. I'll follow up to see if there is another way to do it.
- Cool, let me know what you find Jodi. I suspect the only way to ensure compatibility across desktop and mobile is to use a video clip or state changes.
- This was so much fun. I loved how the animals seemed to match their new owners. It added to the story element. Awesome interaction as usual, Jodi!

- I really took this seriously in the dead of night, trying to save all the pets from going back to the shelter, they should all come home with me!!! I got it at the second go... I guess one can go back and adopted them all! Loved the graphics and I am interested as well in doing a matching game and see the mechanism around it, thanks for posting! It's a tricky one when to use timers... I like to add the element of time when it's an informal assessment or a game. I've never been at ease doing assessments under time pressure myself, so I am trying to avoid putting others under that kind of pressure... bad for the heart :) a thin line between excitement and anxiety, I try to go with the fun (no harm done) interactions in my developments if the requirements leave out the timers...

You mentioned Elizabeth Pawlicki doing a webinar on accessibility - was that one of the webinars offered on the home page for training, or something that was in an email? I've seen comments for several webinars, and think I'm missing something.
Thanks again for a great entry!- Yep, I try to attend as many Articulate webinars as possible. I always learn something new even in the introductory ones. I check every week to see what's on the schedule. I love the quick tips one the best.
- I have to confess even though I try to get as many webinars and how tos that can benefit me, help me improve, or would be just great information to have, I always forget about the training in the app launcher. I'm bad about just opening a file directly, or working off of a 3 slide starter template. I've made a note to remind me each Monday to check those out for the next few weeks following.

- This was really cool! I don't know why it didn't occur to me that the tiles didn't actually change position. There were a couple of times that I got the last match right at the wire and I saw both the failure and the success message.
- HI Jenna,
I noticed that too while I was testing it. I think it has to do with how Rich ordered the triggers. If you get the last match just at 35 seconds there might be an overlap in how the instructions trigger. If I were going to use this for a "real" project I would spend more time on addressing that, but frankly, I don't think I could build this myself--my mind doesn't work this way. :)
