Week 2 Discussion
Welcome to the final discussion of the cohort! You’ve created your AI Course Draft in Rise and applied what you learned about AI Assistant. Now it is time to showcase your work and reflect on your experience.
🤩 This is your chance to show off your work!
- Copy the Quick Share link to the AI Course Draft you created in the Week 2 Hands On Challenge and paste it in a reply to this discussion.
- Unsure how to copy the Quick Share link? Watch this short video tutorial.
- Below your Quick Share link, answer these two questions:
-
What’s one AI technique you learned in the Week 2 Guided Practice Activity that you plan to apply right away in your current projects?
-
Where did the AI course draft generation add the most value to the course-building workflow, and where did you need to step in with your own expertise?
-
After you post, take a few minutes to look at your peers’ courses and reply to at least one other post. You might:
- Share what you liked about their course structure or content
- Call out an effective use of AI Assistant
- Offer one suggestion to make the course even stronger
This is your opportunity to showcase your work and learn from how others are using AI Assistant in their own designs!
➡️ Next Up:
If you have more questions about AI prompting or the hands-on challenge for this week, attend the Week 2 Office Hours session on March 12.

Really impressed with the image generation feature. I can always fine‑tune later, but I can see this saving me a huge amount of time. The draft generation feature was super helpful. It gave me a solid starting point, and then I could easily jump back in and add or remove lessons without overthinking anything. It made the whole process feel way more manageable. It also helped me see which supporting documents I might need, so now I have a better idea of what to ask SMEs for.
I'd love to see some AI assist around scenario creation - specifically taking a block of text and turning it into a scenario. This would be great if it could be combined with the AI image generation to keep the overall look/feel the same throughout.
The assistant was so great for text updates (font, bolding, etc.). I also really enjoyed changing and updating and trying different styles of images throughout the content.- CathleenCucCommunity Member

Like several others, I liked the "Open with Hook" prompt to immediately grab the learner's attention. I played around with the length, tone and reading level of that feature as well.

I recently used the AI features to create a course and found it really helpful to start with as a brainstorming partner. Before this course I rewrote sections on my own, but I learned how to iterate items with the simplify writing, make shorter, make longer and change tone tools. Also, being able to change formats and block styles with the convert feature is great. I usually have to step in to cut back text. I think the auto-generation tends to be wordy and create extra summary blocks that aren't always necessary. - ShauntaTaylor-1Community Member
Is anyone having any challenges with the AI Images? I am trying to complete the practice items and nothing is coming up when I select AI Images. I have cleared my cache / browsing history. Tried Incognito mode in Chrome. Plus restarted my computer and nothing. It worked for me earlier this week and now it is giving me a blank page when I try to generate images with AI. Any guidance anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. TIA.

ShauntaTaylor-1 So sorry you ran into that issue! We were experiencing an AI image generation outage earlier today, but that is now resolved. You should be able to generate AI images again!

One AI technique I plan to apply right away is the “Open with Hook” strategy to start lessons in a more engaging way. I used Scanario based on Character. II also found the formatting options like adding headings, bolding keywords, and converting text into bullet points very useful for improving content structure quickly.Where did the AI course draft generation add the most value to the course-building workflow, and where did you need to step in with your own expertise?
The AI draft generation was helpful in creating the initial course structure and summarizing the source content into lesson blocks. However, I needed to step in to refine the content, adjust the tone, change block types, add image, generate Image in AI, and add scenarios, summaries, and knowledge checks to make the course more engaging and aligned with learning objectives.- CathleenCucCommunity Member
Hi! Very nice visual design of your course! You used a wide variety of blocks and images. I especially liked the use of the photo and text blocks. I forget those are an option.
Consider adding a few more pictures to break up some of the heavier text pages. There is a toggle at the beginning of the course design to have it automatically add AI generated images that go with the content. I find it easier to do that and delete the ones I don't like. They can be a bit repetitive in format, so I generated a few new ones.
I think the Sorting Grown Plan activity was one you added which was a nice touch to give learners practice identifying those elements based on the content you just presented. Great job and hope you enjoy using it in the future!

- Block conversion! A really nice and fast way to see how the content might appear in multiple ways.

- Nice to get that outline, have things laid out in order. Design-wise, I would want to step in and improve upon the layout of the individual lessons,

I agree! Block conversion is a really useful feature. It helps quickly view the same content in different interactive formats and choose the best option for learner engagement and it saves development time.

Draft/course generation! What a big timesaver. Being able to upload source documents into Rise and "watch" it generate a fleshed out course is a powerful tool. Use the AI image generator more often (another big time-saver).
Where did the AI course draft generation add the most value to the course-building workflow, and where did you need to step in with your own expertise?
The biggest value added was the time-saving aspect! Being able to take multiple source documents and combine them into creating a singe course is fantastic. I did have to review the first draft and made some very slight tweaks (mostly, basic punctuation). - LinhuiGuo-26208Community Member

I find that generating custom image prompts is very helpful because it provides a great way for me to create a draft of the image and then make any necessary adjustments.

The AI course draft generator significantly improves efficiency when creating drafts from Word, PDF, or PowerPoint source materials. However, IDs do need to collaborate closely with SMEs to review and validate the learning objectives and lesson outlines, ensuring the content follows a clear and logical flow. Also, IDs must refine images, language, interactive elements, and quiz questions to meet organizational standards and incorporate SME feedback.

The AI block generation tool was really helpful and saved so much time. I will definitely be using it in the future.Where did the AI course draft generation add the most value to the course-building workflow, and where did you need to step in with your own expertise?
I found that the draft generation really helped with creating a basic flow to the course, and then I was able to step in and adjust what was needed, without spending all the time having to create the format. Will definitely use the draft generator in the future.

I plan to use the formatting key words or phrases AI technique right away. Currently, I am meeting with a group of content experts weekly to review their courses and they are wanting to bold key words throughout. I can now work a head of the meetings using this feature and be able to ask their feedback. This will more than likely decrease the amount of meetings we need as well.
The AI course draft generation added the most value in the production/development stage. Content experts provide the content in their file formats and then being able to upload and AI produce the course is a huge time saver. I don't have to manually create the blocks, copy and paste content or retype, etc. I can then go in an have it rewrite and generate AI images. I can change content to be interactive.
My knowledge has expanded immensely and I am excite to work with these features moving forward. Thank you!

I liked that you added continue buttons to break up some of the content. I would suggest not using the red/orange text though because of color blindness/accessibility. I also liked the images that you added.
