Thanks for this information as I was having the same issue.  When I share my file with other developers, they don't see the black screen upon publishing.  Why is that?

I know Ron is helping you both wonderfully, but I wanted to chime in. 

What you are experiencing seems related to a known bug our team is aware of where the play button shows even when there is no media file on the first slide and there is the closed caption. 

As a workaround, you can downgrade your Storyline app to Update 81.

We'll be sure to update this thread with any news on a fix so that you're in the loop!

I saw the reply about going back to the previous version of 81 to fix the black screen/forced Play button, but unfortunately I don't get the button in Articulate to go back. I reached out to our system admin and they said we can't do that due to the packaging of the tool for security purposes. Do you have any timing on when this fix might be available?

I'm happy to share that we just released Storyline 360, Build 3.83.31444.0, which includes the fix for the bug where a play button shows even if there is no media file on the first slide and there is a closed caption file.

All you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app to take advantage of the newest bug fixes and features!
