Accessibility - Screen reader doesn't read the alt text provided for an interactive element.

Attached story file consists of a screen (the actual course consists of over 50 slides) having an oval shape with trigger to open a layer. When using NVDA, it doesn't read the alt text for ova...
Thye problem is in the previous button rather than the next the alt text is next rather than previous and the graphic inside the state is still active to accessibility tools will be read out.
