Animated GIF accessibility in RISE
Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has solved the accessibility issues regarding animated GIFs in RISE. In order to conform to WCAG 2.1 they must:
- Have good alt text.
- Have a button to pause them. (Keyboard space bar control required too.)
- Not flash more than 3 times per second.
I don't see a way to add a play/pause/stop button nor keyboard controls. I can with a video version, but not an animated GIF.
Hi RobGibson-25619!
The key to an accessible GIF is creating it using a tool that allows you to turn off looping or insert it as a video so that it can be paused.
Tom shares his recommendation here, and I look forward to hearing what others in the community use.

The catch is that I can't insert an animated GIF as a video. It has to be an image. As a video, I have controls. As a GIF/image, I do not. (Begs the question as to why make a GIF to begin with.)
Interestingly, content developed by Articulate is not accessible. Watch the animated GIFs in this course.

The Preview link you shared doesn't seem to navigate folks to the Rise 360 course you shared in your reply. No worries!
I would recommend that you resend the Preview link, or you can publish the course to Review 360 and share the review link in a new reply to this thread. It will be helpful to view what you are referencing!
Looking forward to seeing these animated GIFs in action and hearing what folks in the community use!

Bear in mind this course was developed by Articulate.
