Arabic Translation Menu Wonkiness

Hi amazing folks.  I have a project where we need to produce both an English version and an Arabic version of the course and I'm running into some post-translation weirdness.  

The issue I'm most concerned with right now is that the Next and Previous buttons aren't displaying the text, but rather a straight vertical line where it should say "Next" or "Previous" in Arabic.  BUT...when you hover over the next and previous buttons, it brings up a little hover-reveal box showing the appropriate text.  This only happens when previewing or viewing the published course. However, the player settings appear to be correct and we can clearly see the correct text for both buttons in the player settings window, so I'm not sure why it changes during preview/publish?  See below for Settings window screenshot.

Does anyone know how to remove the hover state on the buttons and make it so that the correct button text appears without having to hover?  Unfortunately, I cannot share this file for proprietary/NDA reasons.  Thanks in advance for any insights you might be able to provide!
