Hi all,
The issue in Storyline 360 where the audio in the HTML5 output gets cut-off or does not play when the following conditions are met:
- It is followed by a slide with an image
- The slide with the image has a Jump to trigger on the Prev button set to the slide with the audio
- Also happens if the Jump to specific slide trigger is on the Next button
- Also happens if you have jump scene trigger.
is resolved in the most recent update to Storyline 360 Update 12.
You can follow the details here to update your Storyline 360 app.
Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Thanks, Ashley. The last update I see on the version history was from last week, February 1st. Is this the update you are referring to? I am running Storyline 360 version v3.12.14647.0

My issue with playback from 360 publishing has been resolved since I last updated my SL 360 software yesterday. I ran the update and published again, and it's working fine now. The latest updates to SL360 resolved the audio issue in Chrome.

When will this long-standing bug of 'not playing audio on the first screen' of web-published files be fixed?
It seems incredible that an expensive, commercially available authoring system still has this problem - we put up with it in SL2, lengthening the delay on the timeline before the first audio started, to work around it on most occasions. Now we have upgraded to latest SL3 and the problem is still there.
It happens with different browsers, accessed locally or on-line, on PC or Mac.
I have been authoring corporate eLearning courses since 1986 (Authorware, Flash, Storyline since 2012) and I am dismayed that in 2019 such a fundamental flaw is apparently tolerated in this way. For goodness sake, please just fix it.
Hi Tim,
I wanted to share our current documentation on the way audio is handled.
Are you running into a different behavior than what is outlined there?
If you're on the latest update, your learners should see a play button if there is audio on the first slide.
If you're experiencing something different, then with your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
Hey Lloyd!
So sorry that's happening. Would you mind sharing your Storyline 360 .story file here so we can help with testing?
You can add it as an attachment right to a comment in this discussion.
Really appreciate it!

Thanks for the reply, Ali.
Is there a way I can share the .story file with you privately?
Cheers, Lloyd

Hi Ali,
Just following up on this one. Would it be better for me to create a support case to share the file privately?
Cheers, Lloyd
Hey Lloyd! If you need to share your file privately, that's a perfect idea. You can submit it directly to our Support Engineers right over here and they'll be happy to dig in!

Thanks Ali. I have submitted a ticket and it's being looked into now.
Great, Lloyd! Thanks for letting me know.
I see you're working with my colleague Victor, and I'll be keeping an eye on your case too. 🙂

Hi! We are experiencing the same problem. However when played on Windows Explorer, it works perfectly fine. Has this been solved for Chrome?
