Background Audio not affected by player Play/Pause

Windows 10 STL 360 3.99.34516.0

I have an audio file that is perfectly timed to my narration, with specific beats also happening in time with the narration and the ending fades perfectly. But if you press the Play/Pause button, the background audio keeps on playing, effectively ruining the timing. What is the trigger to pause the background audio file when the Play/Pause button is clicked? This project has to be published For Web so I can't use Video output as a workaround. And I really don't want to remove the Play/Pause button from my player.

If Play/Pause works on everything else in slide (including my recorded narration) why does it not "see" background audio as well?

Nope. It's a simple slide progression type of project. Jump to next slide when timeline ends is the only trigger. And based on another reply, the background music is independent of the player, so I guess the background music feature is Start only.

  • Hi KathleenSaunder,

    Thanks for reaching out!

The background audio cannot be paused using the player's play/pause button. If you'd like to give your learners the option to pause audio using the player controls, consider adding the audio directly on the slide instead. I'll let other community members chime in, in case someone has a possible JavaScript solution that might work.

The "video" is multiple slides, I'm not going to chop up my music bed to put each individual cut on its slide. And there is no way STL will play that smoothly slide to slide anyway. You'll hear an audible clip as each slide progresses, I guarantee it.

I guess I don't see the benefit of the background music feature if you can't use it as a music bed for the whole project. Or why it's beneficial to have it be a lone wolf asset ignoring the player...when everything else obeys the player.
