Basic Calculations with variables troubleshooting. Assistance requested :)
Don’t worry—you’re definitely not alone in feeling overwhelmed with math in Storyline. It sounds like you’ve got the right idea with using variables for Planned Value, Earned Value, and Actual Cost, but getting the calculations to display properly can be tricky if you’re not used to it.
One tool that might make things much easier for you is TI-84 Calculator Online with graphing storyline, from this website: https://ti84calculatonline.com/ without any login or sign up. You can use it directly in your browser for both basic and advanced calculations. You could test your formulas there first to make sure they work before trying to implement them in Storyline. It’s super handy for checking your calculations step by step without worrying about breaking your variables in Storyline.
Once your formulas are working, you can come back to Storyline and set up your “Calculate” button to show the results, and your “Clear” button to reset the inputs. You can even add a trigger to prevent the user from clicking “Calculate” more than once to maintain the integrity of the numbers.
If you like, I can also give you a step-by-step approach for setting up your four calculations in Storyline so that the numbers appear correctly and stay locked after calculation.
