Change settings for multiple slides at once in Storyline?

Hi,
Just so I'm clear I know I can select multiple objects on a slide and change their properties all at once. I know I can select multiple slides at once and insert an object all at once.
I need to change the slide properties (add the automatic previous button) to about 100 slides within 9 click try simulations (only want the player previous button within the simulations as I have custom previous and next buttons within the rest of the course). I've tried selecting all slides within a simulation scene and changing the properties but it doesn't work.
Is that how it is supposed to work? Please tell me that's not correct?
You can select slides in story view and add in the previous button ctrl+A will select all in a scene, pressing again selects all slides in a project
