Changing language while mid-course.

So, we recently decided we want to have the ability for learners to change language mid-course.

Of course, it is simple to have a welcome slide that lets you choose the language and puts you in the scene where the English or German content lies.

But let's say you are on slide 15 in the German version and want to swap to English. Of course, you wouldn't want to start at the beginning; you would want to continue on slide 15. Is there a smart way to do it? Right now, I only see a way of having a button on Slide 15 (EN) and one on Slide 15 (GER) to swap with each other and repeating that for all 30 slides.

Is there a smarter, more automatic way, to have a Button on the slide Master which somehow tracks progress and sends you to the appropriate slide?

Thank you :)

  • You need a variable to track progress, then when they choose language a trigger to jump to every slide based on lang selected

What about having your language-specific content (text and audio) in individual layers of each slide? An English layer, a German layer, and so on. Depending on a variable, that layer would be displayed when the timeline of each slide starts. Then, it's only a matter of WHEN the variable is set; from that point on, the selected language is provided to the learner. And if he/she changes the language, THAT language is displayed on the next slide (you could even build in a "refresh" to change the language of the current slide when the new language is selected).
