Clicking a video is considered playing, but playing is not considered clicking
Running into issues with this as well. We have some external controls, one of which toggles the PlayToggle variable in Storyline. But it appears that PlayToggle does not affect a video that is set as Click to Play. This is very frustrating and doesn't make a lot of sense. Any ideas?
Hi VisionemUser and everyone following along here,
Thanks for continuing to share these examples and use cases. You’re right to call out the inconsistency.
Right now, native video control interactions behave differently from direct video clicks, which can affect variables like PlayToggle and custom playback controls.
At the moment, there isn’t a built-in way to link native video control interactions to the same trigger behavior. I can definitely see how this creates limitations for custom playback controls and variable-driven workflows while still wanting learners to retain access to the built-in video controls and scrubbing functionality.
I’ve shared your feedback with our product team as a feature request for more consistent video playback event handling and trigger support across both video-object clicks and native control-bar interactions.
