Combining 2 rise courses into one course
Hello everyone! Hoping someone has a solution to my question. I am new to Rise, but I was able to create 2 Rise courses (Benefits and Payroll) as separate courses. I activated the navigation pane to appear on the left of both courses, and they both play as expected
I would like to now combine both courses, so when I create the SCORM file to upload to our LMS, they appear as one course with 2 modules (Benefits and Payroll) and the titles of the modules appear in the course navigation pane, that users can select and see the individual module's navigation listings.
Is there a preferred (easy) way for me to do this?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Jim

Hi JimMaynard-d5ed you can publish the courses individually and then create what is called a SCORM aggregation. This is basically two or more individual SCORM courses packaged in a way that tells the LMS they are related to each other when the aggregation is imported. The topics are then presented as two courses in the LMS under a single parent (course name), and the completion from each topic would then roll-up to mark the parent completed.
This is a task completed outside of Rise. I think there are tools available to help you create an aggregation, but it's not the lowest bar of entry.
The other method would be to build a new shell in Rise that can accommodate the two topics and use the copy to new course tools to move the content from each course into it's new structure.
This will depend on a few things though, for example, whether each course has it's own assessment, the complexity of the existing structure knowing you will need to add another layer to that structure.
If each topic has it's own assessment that is required to write a score or individual completion, and aggregation is the option.
If the courses don't feature any assessments, and you just need to track overall completion, I would look to try and solve it in Rise.
Note: Some LMS will allow you to create the course structure in the LMS, allowing you to import the individual SCORM packages into a parent course you have created. This means you do not always need the knowledge to create a SCORM aggregation. Your LMS admin would be able to advise on this. They will usually allow you to configure completion roll-up as well, for example whether a user needs to complete one or both SCORM courses for the parent to be marked as completed.
