Creating Help Desk or Knowledge Base Articles
Hi daodn one thing to be aware of which is a -1 for me, is the inability to deeplink into a page in Storyline. For example, if you wanted to reference the resource elsewhere and provide a link to the resource, you can only ever provide a link to the first page. It's akin to only being able to send somebody a link to the front-page of a news website, and not provide a link to a specific article.
The other -1 is that Storyline is not optimised for mobile phones. Content is scaled to fit devices and is not responsive/adaptive. Therefore, text that looks perfectly readable on a laptop/desktop/table, will look very small on a mobile device. If you are happy to just target Desktop/Tablet and Laptop, this is not a problem.
Another -1 is maintenance. If you update one Slide/Page. You need to re-publish the entire package again, and re-upload the entire page. It's not like you are editing a single HTML page. Depending on the size of the project and how frequently it is maintained will determine if this is an issue.
All of the other features provided in the player are great though, such as the video player, search, glossary, table of contents, resources etc. So there are plenty of +1s.
Thank you for this analysis, SamHill. Storyline 360 is really robust, but I think we might just stick with Rise 360, for now. Thanks again!
