Default AI Narrator
Hello! I noticed after the most recent update that the default AI Narrator for my project changed from River to Laura. I've played around and searched but can't seem to change the default back to River in this project. It doesn't look like River is a legacy voice and should still be supported. This is a little frustrating, because it means searching for and selecting River each time I add new Text-to-Speech, where previously it remembered the last Voice used. Does anyone know how to change the default narrator within a project? It was not doing this last week. I appreciate any insight - thank you!

Hi Carole,
I experienced the same issue as you when testing this now. The previous behavior was the "last used" voice in a project. Now it appears to default to Laura each time with the April 28th update.
You have the option to roll-back your version of Storyline in the Articulate 360 desktop app here:
I just reverted to test this specifically myself and 3.115.36688.0 does correctly repeat the voice you select in your project.
So you may consider going back to this version for now.

Thank you, Frankie! I think I'll revert for now until they can address this - it is less efficient now.
Hi Carole, we are aware of the issue and will be fixing it so that when you click the TTS button in the ribbon, it won’t default to Laura. A workaround for now though is to click an existing TTS (from the list on the left) and click “New Voiceover”, and then it will keep the voice and even all the advanced settings the same.

Unless you have a truly terrifying voice, you can also record the audio yourself.

Articulate has changed the "Generate AI Audio" Menu. They now call them "Voicovers". The Menu does NOT prohibit clicking elsewhere while the menu is open. THIS IS A MAJOR CHANGE that was not explained in the update notes. We can leave the "Generate AI Audio" menu open and navigate through out course and add AI Voiceovers continuously. The default doesn't need to be remembered because you don't have to leave the menu. There is a weird issue however. Do NOT have previous audio selected in the timeline when you add a new voiceover. The button changes to
"Replace" instead of "Insert Voiceover" and if you "Replace" the program will crash.Hi Andrew_Crawford,
Thanks for reaching out!
The issue mentioned above about the default voice reverting to Laura, has been fixed in Update 3.117.36909.0. You're correct that the Text-to-Speech audio is now labeled as a Voiceover in the Generate AI Audio window. I can see how that could be confusing when you're not expecting that change, and I've shared your feedback with our team!
I'm concerned about Storyline crashing if you select, Replace. This isn't expected behavior, so I'd like to learn a bit more. Does this happen consistently or intermittently? If you create a brand new project, does the issue persist? If you're willing to share a screen recording or a copy of the impacted file, I'd like to take a closer look. You can upload that here or privately in a support case, and we'll delete them once we're done troubleshooting!

I tested the "Replace" function of human narration audio after the 5_12 update and IT WORKED!!, with no forced-close of the full Storyline 360 app. All is good! I'm used to the new menu staying open now that I use 4 monitors (one 4K). I can have the notes, timeline, and "Generate AI Audio" panels / menu's all open, next to my research and source documents.
