Drag and Drop incorrects
I have a simple drag and drop. If a person gets it right the correct answer box appears and advances to the next slide. If it is wrong the incorrect answer box appears annd invites them to try again but takes them to the next slide. How do I get it to go back to the original slide? Thanks!
When a question is set to allow >1 attempt, Storyline automatically adds a Try Again layer. That layer has a Try Again button that hides the layer, so the user can change their answer. If the user doesn't answer correctly within the allowed number of attempts, the program shows the Incorrect layer. By default, the Continue button on that layer jumps to the next slide. That's how it should work.
Based solely on your description, it sounds like the question is set to only allow 1 attempt, but the text was changed on the Incorrect layer to indicate the user can try again.
- If that's how the slide is set up, change the settings to allow more >1 attempt. Then edit what's on layers as desired/needed.
Otherwise, it's possible that triggers were changed. But additional troubleshooting is just guessing without seeing the .story file. If you upload it, someone might be able to solve the issue.
Here are the best practices for uploading a .story file:
- Only include slides that are related to the problem.
- Be sure objects, layers, motion paths, and variables have meaningful names.
- If there is proprietary content, replace or delete it. For example, replace proprietary text with “ipsum lorem” text.
