Is there a way to hide the in built slide layer in Drag and Drop Quiz? When the users clicks Submit without dragging any object, a slide layer appears, which I am not able to customize or hide it.

While there isn't a way to hide the 'Invalid Answer' prompt, you can customize its appearance by following the steps in this video:
