Dragging to reveal content?

Is there a way to create an interaction in Storyline where the user, let's say, clicks on an object and drags it over to the right to reveal some content?

Or do I have to just get very creative with the slider objects?

  • A slider is probably an easier (and more keyboard accessible) way to do this. You could draw a rectangle on the slide, right click and export it as a picture, and then use that picture as the thumb fill of the slider, and make the track have no fill and no outline. You'd end up with a draggable rectangle that could also be navigated to via keyboard and moved.

Hi Agadja, yes—you can create that kind of drag-to-reveal interaction in Storyline! The most straightforward way is to use a drag-and-drop setup:

Create the object to drag and the hidden content that will be revealed.

Set a drop target (even if it’s invisible) on the slide where the content should be revealed.

Use triggers so that when the object is dropped (or dragged past a certain X/Y position), the hidden content becomes visible.

You don’t strictly need a slider, though sliders can be useful if you want smooth, progressive reveal. With drag-and-drop and triggers, you can make it feel like the user is directly dragging to uncover content, giving a more interactive experience.

If you want, I can sketch a step-by-step trigger setup for this exact effect.

      Thanks, Clarabelle.

Would you know if any examples/samples exist out there because I feel like it would take a lot of time to create a lot of triggers to reveal the content underneath if--let's say--the content being revealed is long and rectangular. That would mean a lot of triggers have to be created to create a natural flow when dragging.
