Figuring out resources for animation features

Hello, 

I am looking to include some animations/cartoons for an online course I am developing. The course is focused on an IT-related subject and we are looking for ways to demonstrate "how tos" without having to record a video of something in real life.

I've never worked on producing anything like this before and I'm wondering if folks have tips for how to do this. In particular, I'm wondering what content you provide, how long it takes to produce, any info around pricing (which I'm sure is variable across multiple factors), etc.

We're basically in a very early stage of planning and I want to map out what resources we would need and if this is a viable option to consider for this training. And if anyone has recommendations for people/studios that produce this type of content, that would be much appreciated as well (if that is allowed on this platform!).
