Thanks Nick - hotspots work too and if you're using that, you may just want to remove the hand cursor. 

An important note about placing a shape over the video to prevent the user from clicking it: the shape can't be formatted with "No Fill."  Instead, you must give it a fill color then make that color 100% transparent as Ryan noted above.

Also, if you go the hotspot route, you can remove the hand cursor by right clicking on the hotspot and choosing and deselecting "Show Hand Cursor on Hover."
