Fragment when merging shapes
I'm trying to use the Fragment option under Merge Shapes, but it's not working as I expected.
I have four donut shapes with a circle overlaid across them. When I apply Fragment, instead of splitting the circle into five separate pieces, it removes the donut portions from the circle and isn't fragmented. I want the center shape removed and the ellipse shape in the donut to remain.
Am I misunderstanding how Fragment works, or is there another way to achieve this?

Fragment seems to only break the donuts into pieces rather than the larger oval, regardless of stacking order. Nonetheless, you can achieve the separate pieces you mentioned with a two step operation.
- Add an extra set of donuts (or circles) in the same position as yours, making them fully solid and then hiding them.
- Select the donuts and large circle and then fragment merge them.
- In the resulting merged shapes, hide all the donut pieces (leave only the remnants of the larger circle).
- Unhide the 4 small solid circles or donuts you added.
- Select these with the large circle remnants.
- Fragment merge again.
This should leave you with the four oval pieces you wanted, as well as the center portion.
See the example project.
