If you go to "Question Tools -> Drag & Drop Options -> Drop Target Options", you'll see there all of the options that you can select for determining how the drop objects are arranged in the drop zone.
Since you don't want your drop obects to be stacked on top of each other, try choosing either Tile or Free.
