Gradient not displaying correctly in project

I have a project that has to meet a certain set standard at my firm, I just added a required gradient to my text boxes and the boxes will not preview or display properly.... I unfortunately went through my entire project and changed every box, then published for a review and have triangles in the corners of my boxes instead of a gradient.  

I saw this was an issue reported 5 years ago and 3 years ago and am looking for the fix. I see there was a few updates, but my software version is current... and I still have this issue.
