Issue: GIFs won't play if any formatting applied
Hello AndrewHoskins-e,
I'm sorry about the trouble, and I appreciate you sharing the GIF file you're using.
I tried inserting it into the attached Storyline project alongside a sample GIF file, and I can confirm that the one on the left seems like a static image, but the other one is playing in preview.
I recommend testing other GIF files to see if the issue will happen with a new Storyline project. I attached the sample GIF I used so you can compare. If the sample GIF is also static in preview and you're already working on your local drive, I suggest running these steps to fix possible installation issues.
Let me know how it goes, and I'll be more than happy to assist further. If you want more targeted help, please feel free to connect with us privately in a support case.
Thank you. I did not see an attachment on your response. I will try to find a GIF to test though.

You're welcome, Andrew. The GIF file may not have gone through the first time. Let me attach it again here.
Please keep me posted. Thank you!

I had the same results as you. The sample you provided worked, while mine remained static. I have opened a support ticket. Thank you again.

Thanks for the feedback and for submitting the support case, Andrew! I see that my colleague Chester helped confirm further that the GIF file is indeed static.
Let's continue the conversation in your support case to keep all the information in one place, but I'm happy to assist further as needed.
