Keeping Taskbar icons for SL and Articulate 360 across updates...
As someone who uses Storyline pretty much every day, I really appreciate the constant updates and that the development team is working hard to make this a better tool for training development. A note from the end user perspective, however, that each time I update, I lose the taskbar icons for SL and Articulate 360 and have to replace them from the installed apps menu. I 'looked into solutions' and found this helpful suggestion (which has worked through one update, but is still under review) you might want to try if you're having the same issue:
"Here’s the more permanent workaround many power users use in Microsoft Windows when applications like Articulate Storyline or Articulate 360 update frequently and break taskbar pins.
The idea is to pin a shortcut that Windows never replaces, instead of the program itself.
Step-by-step: Create a “permanent” taskbar pin
1. Create a stable shortcut
- Right-click your Desktop → New → Shortcut
- Browse to the Storyline executable, usually:
C:\Program Files\Articulate\360\Storyline\Storyline.exe
- Name it something like:
Storyline (Stable)
2. (optional) Move it to a personal shortcuts folder
Create a folder Windows will never modify.
Example:
C:\Users\<your username>\Shortcuts
Move the shortcut there.
This prevents installers from touching or replacing it."
Hope this helps!
