Learner Notes - Input Boxes
Another upvote from me please.
I did find another resource that gets a workaround: How to Build a Free Response Field in Storyline for Rise | Maestro
It doesn't save in any exports or reporting, but it's exactly what I needed for some courses I've been building. Just a way for learners to enter some text as an answer to a reflective question.
The article in Jonathan's post is great but says "we knew that embedding a PDF wasn’t an option" - Why? Our own approach to allowing users to input notes in a RISE course has been to use Storyline Blocks to capture the text input - store the input in local browser storage and then retrieve the text from storage at the end of the course (or when the user wants to print it) and use the pdf-lib library JavaScript routines to 'fill out' a pdf form - the pdf form used as the template could be stored anywhere.
There is a discussion - and example on our website:
Creating a downloadable Learning Journal in RISE – Profile Learning Technologies
Admittedly this example only allows the user to input their reflective responses at designated points in the course - but I'm sure someone could suggest a way of creating a "sticky" button that allowed the user to click it an any time to make their notes.
In fact, I will suggest that we make this our next demo to add to the site.
