Thanks for following up on this and sharing these screenshots!
When you save a .storytemplate file, you can choose the location, but we also add a backup in the Story Templates folder so that you can access the template in Storyline 360 when selecting My Templates. For example, I tested a few files by saving a template on my local drive (C: drive). I was then able to access the template there, and also from my Story Templates folder.
