New Video Controls Only Display When Hovering
Hi everyone,
I'm loving the new video control features released yesterday, but I've noticed that the control bar is only visible when the mouse is hovering over it when published. Is there a way for the video control bar to remain visible throughout the video without needing to move the mouse?

Hi, Dawn.
Thank you for reaching out!
While I'm not aware of a way to set the accessible video controls to remain visible without the user hovering or tabbing to one of the options, you're welcome to submit a feature request directly to our team with your suggestions!

So hovering to show the volume controls, only to have them vanish when you go to adjust them, is the intended behavior?
Hi Alan,
I made this quick recording to show what happens when I try to adjust the settings in the video control bar:
Are you encountering different behavior when trying to adjust the settings in the video control bar? If so, you can reach out to our support team by opening a case so we can take a closer look at what's happening.

Figured it out. We had a hotspot covering the video but stopping above the control bar. So anything that floated up into that area (like the volume slider) became untouchable. Thanks for the help!
Great to hear, Alan! Glad my colleagues Maria and Joe were able to assist you. Happy developing! ✨

I love the new video control features too. I'm not finding how to lock down the video seekbar. I don't want the learner to scrub through the video the initial time through. How do I do this?
Hi Rachel,
Making the visibility of the video controls in Storyline 360 conditional is currently not possible, but there is one simple workaround that you can implement, which is to add a shape on top of your video controls that will disappear after the initial viewing. Here's a screenshot to show you what this will look like:
And I've attached a project demo so you can see this workaround in action. Hope this helps!

Thank you Joe. The workaround I used was to place a Hotspot with the dimension of 960 x 510 aligned to the top. This way the learner will still get the video controls to see the duration, progress and can interact with the play/pause button. The hotspot covers the seekbar so they can't click on it to drag it.
Great workaround, Rachel! Using a hotspot to cover functionality was a good way to go!
Happy Developing🎉

FYI - when testing in Articulate Review, my workaround worked fine. When testing in our LMS, it didn't work. I was able to scrub forward in the video. So I adjusted the height of the hotspot to 530, then it worked. Things that make you go hmm.

Hi, I just found out that when published to the LMS just one of the controls (Full screen) doesnt work. Has anyone faced this challenge?

Yes, I have had that experience too. Since the videos we put into Storyline is typically full screen already, I have no use for the Full Screen control.
