Presenter navigation trouble - advance by user and no skipping ahead?

Hello, everyone. I have been searching for a solution and I know this has been asked before, but I am still stuck. I'm trying to make my lesson in Presenter a click-to-advance activity. I have content that I want the user to click to have it appear on the slide, and then I want the user to click to advance the slide. I don't want people to jump ahead in the navigation either, so I turned off the menu.

When I set the slides to user advance and restrict the prev/next, the whole lesson just gets stuck on Slide 1. When I set the navigation to Free, the presentation is navigable (the slides advance with prev/next) but the in-slide click trigger animations still don't work.

Sorry if this is a beginner question, but I've been adjusting settings in the Player and Slide Properties and Options and can't seem to find the winning combination. Thanks for any help!

  • It's hard to tell what's going on without seeing the .story file, but it looks to me like the appearance of objects on the slide is controlled by timing instead of triggers. If that is the case, you have two options:

    1. Use triggers to pause and resume the timeline before each object appears. This method ensures that objects appear in the order your want them to appear.
    2. Default objects to a hidden state and use triggers to reveal them by changing state to normal. This method offers more interactivity to the user but requires more creative design if the order in which objects appear is important.
