Q&A: New Content Formats — Guides, Decks, Interactive Video, & Scenarios
Hi Eric,
I'm excited for a tool like this. The facial change options for characters are cool. That, paired with the ability to outright change the image of each node, can likely enable some good narrative training.
In the full-screen character mode, the font size of the text seemed abnormally small to me relative to the picture and interface. There's a lot of real estate given to the character portrait, so maybe it can share for some simple zoom controls?
Elsewhere in the thread, you confirm the long-term plan to integrate the new scenario block into Rise. You also offer that the new scenario builder can be more a prototype to something built in a more complex tool, but are there any long term plans to expand the functionality of the new scenario builder? New nodes, maybe some visual effects, or different kinds of interaction?
Thanks for the kind words, AndrewBlemings-, and for the detailed feedback! Glad the facial expression changes and per-node image swapping are landing well, that combination really does open up more nuanced narrative training.
On the font size in full-screen character mode, thanks for flagging this. Is the core issue mainly that the text itself is hard to read at that size, or is it more that you'd want more control over how much space the portrait takes up versus the text?
On long-term plans for the Scenario builder itself, I don't have anything specific I can share on that front right now, but it's a good question, and I appreciate you thinking about where this could go next.

Personally, both. The font size isn't the easiest to read to me. I know some interfaces have sliders or toggles, but the one size just seems restrictive.
I'm also not the biggest fan of the size of the pictures. In this example below, the character takes up more than 50% of the screen:
And I guess I'm just not sure why. The images are a nice enhancement to the scenario, but at the moment they're not essential information so giving them the most space in the hierarchy seems counterintuitive, especially for projects where the image might not change from node to node. I think I see a lot of unused space in the above picture (ignoring the message text box) and would like more focus on the words.
Or at least the ability to change it. I can imagine node-specific settings that set one image to 60% of the screen but maybe only 30% to another image, depending on the context. A screenshot at 60% versus a quick "this is who you're speaking to now" 25% heads-up.

Really appreciate you laying this out in such detail, AndrewBlemings-. The distinction you're drawing, that the image isn't essential information right now but still gets the most space in the hierarchy, is a genuinely useful way to frame it, and your node-specific example (a meaningful screenshot warranting more space than a quick "who's speaking" cue) makes the case clearly.
Between the readability issue and the proportion question, neither exists as a control today, but you've given us a clear picture of both the problem and a reasonable direction for solving it.
