Q&A: New Content Formats — Guides, Decks, Interactive Video, & Scenarios
Thanks for laying out your use case here, KaylynMilan, that's really helpful context.
There isn't a way to replace or re-upload the video in an existing Interactive Video today. Once it's generated, the source video is fixed, so a swap like the one you're describing isn't something you can do from within the interactive video itself.
I hear you on the impact this has, needing to update a video after an error slips through review, or after a process change, is a real and common need, especially at the scale you're describing. Since your checkpoints often wouldn't need to change with a video update, having to rebuild the whole thing just to fix the source video is a significant amount of extra work.
I don't have a workaround to offer here, unfortunately, at this time a video update means starting a new Interactive Video from scratch with the corrected source.
On adding these formats into existing courses, you're echoing a lot of what others have said in this thread, and as mentioned above, that's something the team is actively planning to bring to both Interactive Video and Scenario.
I echo the point about needing the ability to simply replace a video rather than start from scratch. We used interactive video for the first time last week, and we've already needed to update one because of a misspelling on a slide provided by the SME. The video length hasn't changed, so having to rebuild the entire interaction for a minor video update creates a poor user experience and makes interactive video impractical for us.

Hi JoshHayes,
Thanks for sharing how your first interactive video went! I understand that a misspelling on an SME’s slide meant having to rebuild the whole interaction, which is not what you were hoping for.
I’d love to learn more:
- What would an ideal update look like when only the video changes?
- How often do you expect changes after a video is built?
Your answers help us see what this looks like for your team.

Hi LucianaPiazza
Thanks for asking! Ideally, once the interactive video is built, we’d be able to replace the source video while keeping the existing interactions, timing, and other setup intact. If the updated video changes in length or timing, we’d expect to adjust the interaction timing as needed, but we wouldn’t want to rebuild everything from scratch just to swap the video.I expect changes would happen regularly. We work with SME-provided content, so even after a video is considered final, we may catch a typo, need to update a video, or make another small content correction later. There are also future updates as processes or information change. In those cases, being able to replace the video would make the interactive format much easier to maintain long term.

Hi JoshHayes,
This is really useful context. Thank you! It sounds like you want an interactive video that’s easy to keep up to date. You’d swap in an updated video and keep your interactions where they are, adjusting timing only when the length changes. With SME content, small fixes and updates will continue to come up.
Appreciate you taking the time to lay this out for us!
