Quiz not recording responses

I cannot get my quiz to record the results of the multiple-choice questions.  I have completed the following:

  • I have checked the boxes indicating that the slides should be totaled on the results page.
  • A passing score of 80% was set.
  • I added a results page instead of copying one.
  • Each slide is worth 10 points
  • I used the trigger Summit Multiple Choice on the Layers for Correct and Incorrect when the user clicks Continue.

Please help me determine what I am missing.

Thanks

Krista

  • Thanks for sharing your file. There is a lot going on here that is creating the issues.  When a question is created in Storyline, Storyline already builds in the needed triggers, layers, etc. for this to work.  Editing those can be creative, but can also break the functionality. . . which is the case here.

The Feedback Layers created are not recognized by Storyline as the correct and incorrect layers. The feedback generated by Articulate was deleted.

The Submit Interaction trigger was edited and then disabled and replaced by Show Layer Triggers. This will prevent the proper layers and scoring from working.

The custom radio buttons you created are covering up the choices you are measuring in the form. So when a choice looks like it is being made, it is not really being made. So no score was ever being calculated.

I have repaired the first question in the list to give you one idea of how you might choose to redesign this.  There are always other ways to do this.  But we always encourage users to let SL do the heavy lifting when working with quiz questions. It will do most of the work for you, then you can edit to your satisfaction as long as you do not break the mechanics it has built.

  • Hello,

You shouldn't need triggers on correct or incorrect layers to submit the multiple choice interaction. The correct an incorrect layers will show AFTER the multiple choice interaction has already been submitted. You have the submit button activated on the player, so the user should be able to mark their answer and then click Submit.

You also don't need to program to show the Correct or Incorrect layers with Triggers on the question layer. As long as you have selected the correct answer on a question slide, a correct answer should automatically direct the user to the Correct layer and an incorrect answer will direct them to the incorrect layer.

In short, you are trying to program the question slide with triggers and actions that the question slide is automatically programmed to carry out.

Try deleting all those triggers and then see how it works.

If this answers your question, please mark it as solved. Otherwise, feel free to ask a follow-up question.

I tried doing what was suggested, and now I am getting this feedback when I select a choice.
