Reimporting image breaks all cropped instances

I have reused the same screen image throughout my Storyline course, cropping it differently in each instance to highlight specific areas. After making a minor change to the original image without altering its dimensions, I reimported it into the media library. However, this replaced every instance with the full-screen image, removing all the individual crops.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to update an image in the media library without losing the cropping applied to its individual instances?

Sorry to hear that you've run into this setback when reimporting images through Storyline's Media Library.

Currently, this is the expected behavior. When you reimport an image via the Media Library, Storyline doesn’t just update the picture. It also swaps the old image out for a brand new one everywhere it’s used in your project. Since the cropping was applied to your old images, the new ones are imported without modifications.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to reimport an image in the Media Library, while retaining edits that have been made to the previous version of that image. That said, I can understand how having this functionality can improve your workflow.

We'll be sure to notify you if we release a future enhancement that helps!
