Require a user to answer an Essay question

You might consider using an offscreen object that changes states - such as a circle that goes from white to green or something - when the text entry variable is satisfied. Set the "Next" button to disabled at the start of the slide timeline, and allow it to become active when the object changes states. Then set the object state change to occur when the text entry variable has toggled.
