Reset Quiz to initial state

Just to say that  ran into a similar problem to my original one but with more slides in the story. This is where the learner has to select 'X' answers and have an option to 'try again' twice and then get given the answer if they get it wrong.  I still had the issue of the selected slide didn't  reset the previously selected areas of the slide. I tried Wendy's solution but didn't work.

Another colleague suggested that on the 'try again layer' to add a trigger on each of the shapes the learner has the option to select on the slide to 'Change state of 'selected shape' to normal. This resets all of the shapes on the second attempt of trying and you can then still use the attempts section to as many as you want the learner to do. It's a bit manual but it does work and I am a happy chappy. I thought I would share this alternative approach in case anybody else runs into this issue.
