Results Slide issue on Storyline

Hi all. Hoping somebody can help...

I have a course on Storyline, which has 2 different quiz options depending on previous experience. Both options pull from the same Question Bank.

Quiz 1 uses all questions, pulled randomly. This review quiz works and shows as expected on this option, with the feedback layer etc, and next button showing, similarly to how the final states on the each question slide. (I have also added a mask on the feedback layers, so correct/incorrect banners do not show.)

Quiz 2 uses 5 out of 15 questions, 1 always and 4 at random from the pool. This review quiz does not show as expected, with no feedback layers, correct/incorrect banner present and no Next button.

This is on the same course.

I have tried various workarounds, including copying the scene which works, then adjusting it as a new quiz name but still has the same result as above each time.

Can anyone help please?
Attached shows the 2 examples.

Many thanks

I've learned the hard way that you can't reuse any results slides - each quiz draw requires a unique results slide in order for the variables to do their thing successfully. In this case, you would need to rebuild one of the results slides starting with the base layer; that's where the variables are identified. Then you can copy the "review" and "success" layers (or any other ones that you may be using) from the "as expected" slide, and verify that they each call the unique variables set on the (new) base layer.

  • Hello Chris,

Is this a Story you can share?  It is difficult to diagnose the issues just from the 2 screenshots.

Thanks both. Following another meeting, we are going with the same number of questions for each instance, which removes the need for the 2nd draw and results slide.

It's funny however, as it worked fine for 2 weeks, then suddenly changed on Friday
