Rise Knowledge Check checkboxes not resetting for NVDA and JAWS after selecting Try Again

Our client has flagged an issue with a Multiple Response Knowledge Check with their screen readers. After selecting a checkbox, submitting and then selecting 'Try again' button and re-trying (the Knowledge Check refreshes) and the checkboxes appear to be visually cleared but the screen reader is still reading the checkboxes as "checked".
I've tried searching for answers on this but haven't been able to find a solution. I have some screen recordings attached. 
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
