For opening external files, have you tried adding the files as a resource and linking to your resources in your Course Player instead of adding triggers that target files that are stored directly on your computer? This article explains how this can be done:

Not all computer folder structures are the same, so if you republish your project file in a different computer, there's a chance that the application might recognize the file paths declared in your triggers.
