SnagIt Audio Recordings

This may be a long question but I have been doing this a long time and have never had somebody record audio in SnagIt and create it as a video mp4 format.

Here is my question or confusion. It seems to me it is not possible to extract the audio file from the SnagIt video. I am not even sure what I am asking but the timing is way off when I do import and the files are saved like slides 1-4, 5-8 etc....covering several slides.

I know it may not make sense but I cannot extract them to make them sync. I feel like the client would be better off recording one screen at a time using another audio software. She may be limited but I want to be able to tell her what she can use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Patrick,

Welcome to the community! SnagIt may not be primarily an audio recording tool, but I think we can find a way to either make this work or find a recording alternative that's just as simple for your client to use as SnagIt is.

First, could you tell me a bit more about the project and the situation?

    • What kind of project are you trying to use this audio content from your client for? Narration for a Storyline 360 project? Stand-alone audio content? Something else?
    • Do you know why your client used SnagIt for recording audio as opposed to something audio-specific? Do they not have access to other recording tools and/or don't know how to use other tools? Were they repurposing existing video recordings?
    • Do you have audio editing equipment on your end or will it be better for the final product from the client to be something that's ready to go as-is in your project?
